The natural aging process, along with years of sun exposure, can take a toll on your skin and lead to fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and discoloration.
One way you can safely and effectively turn back the clock on aging is with laser skin rejuvenation — and the HALO® Laser is one of the best on the market for addressing multiple skin problems at once.
The HALO® laser treats both superficial issues like discoloration and deeper ones like skin laxity in a single session. The device comes with a tunable fractional laser that provides ablative resurfacing and non-ablative rejuvenation for maximum results and minimum downtime.
In other words, the HALO® laser is your one-stop treatment that provides significant results in just one or two sessions.
If you want to take years off your appearance with a cutting-edge laser treatment, the HALO® Laser may be the perfect choice for you.
The HALO® laser is the world’s first and only hybrid fractional laser. It was developed by Sciton, a leading manufacturer of medical and aesthetic laser technology. HALO® is a hybrid laser because it delivers both ablative and non-ablative skin rejuvenation to the same treatment zone.
Ablative lasers remove damaged layers of skin, while non-ablative lasers gently stimulate collagen and elastin production. Combined, these two modes of treatment can address numerous skin concerns in a single session.
Being a fractional laser, HALO® is also more comfortable and has a quicker post-treatment recovery. And because the device can be fine-tuned to your unique skin concerns and goals, the possibilities with this treatment are nearly endless.
Laser skin treatments like HALO® all work by causing controlled heating and injury of the skin with laser light. This, in turn, triggers a healing response with cell renewal and increased collagen production. The result of this is more youthful and even skin.
HALO® stands out in the world of laser skin rejuvenation as a laser that can do it all. As a fractional laser, HALO® creates microchannels in the skin instead of treating the skin’s entire surface. This helps speed up recovery times and makes the treatment safer.
And because it combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths, it targets both the superficial and deeper layers of the skin. That’s why HALO® is able to resurface 30 percent of the skin compared to only 5 percent with other lasers.
Skin aging can affect more than just the face. Thankfully, HALO® can address signs of aging in many different sun-exposed areas:
During your HALO® consultation, we will give you guidelines on how to prepare for your HALO® treatment. Patients are usually advised to stop using retinoids and exfoliants a week before treatment.
Patients with darker skin may need to regularly apply hydroquinone in the days leading up to treatment to minimize their risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You may also want to take a mild painkiller an hour before treatment.
We may start your treatment by applying a numbing cream to minimize discomfort. Your provider may also map out the quadrants of your skin that will be treated.
Once you are ready, your provider will guide the HALO® handpiece over your skin, section by section. You may feel a hot sensation or a snapping sensation as they do this. The whole treatment takes about an hour.
You will be instructed to take good care of your skin post-treatment. This usually means cleansing your face with mild products up to three times a day and applying daily moisturizer.
You should avoid saunas, hot showers, direct sun exposure, and tanning beds for up to seven days. Using a high-SPF sunscreen is a must when going out in broad daylight. It is also important to absolutely avoid picking at your skin during recovery.
Your skin will initially be red and tender in the first couple of days and may soon start to flake or peel. This is normal and a sign that the treatment is working. After about seven days, the skin will complete its healing process, and you will notice a dramatic improvement in your skin’s texture and tone.
The results will continue improving over the next months as new collagen is generated, with final results noticeable after two to three months.
Unlike other lasers, patients need only one to two treatments spaced three to four weeks apart. Patients can also opt to undergo more treatments for more gradual results with shorter recovery times.
HALO® is minimally invasive and technically does not require any downtime. However, since your skin will be sensitive and redness and flaking may be visible, you might want to avoid social activities until your skin has completely healed. Avoiding sunlight for three to five days is also important.
The results from HALO® will last you for years to come, especially with proper skin care and healthy lifestyle habits. Most patients can expect to enjoy their skin improvements for one to five years.
At Aestheticare STL in the Ladue-Frontenac area of St. Louis, our goal is to help patients feel confident in their skin with minimally invasive and advanced treatments.
